Our founder was born in Oruro, Bolivia, and grew up in Houston after moving here at age three. When he returned to Bolivia for 18 months in his early twenties, he found a simplicity in daily life and a deeper connection to the culture he came from. During Oruro’s Carnival, he saw local makers bring its traditions to life through work made by hand. Their skill and pride stayed with him.
So did the satisfaction of making custom pieces for his own businesses. Over time, those experiences came together in an idea: help other business owners turn what they imagine into something their people can wear, use, and make their own.
That idea became Ruwhy—pronounced “roo-why.” Our name is inspired by the Quechua word ruway, meaning “to do” or “to make.” It reminds us that a good idea matters most when someone cares enough to bring it to life.
Every business has important work that doesn’t fit neatly into anyone’s job description. Getting shirts made for a team or an event can be one of those tasks. Ruwhy is here to make that part easier.
We create custom, full-color shirts and branded pieces for Houston-area businesses, teams, and events. Come to us with a finished design, a rough sketch, or just an idea. We’ll help work through the design, explain the options, and give you a clear quote before production. If something isn’t right for a particular project, we’ll be candid about that, too.
Full-color direct-to-film (DTF) transfers give us options beyond T-shirts. Depending on the item and material, a design can go on work polos, hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, aprons, tote bags, and compatible fabric koozies. For a new business, we can explore a coordinated mix—team shirts and branded koozies, for example—shaped and quoted around what that business actually needs.
Ruwhy’s story begins in Oruro and continues in Houston. What connects the two is a belief that what we make can carry meaning for the people who wear it—and for the businesses they represent.
